Limerick Sub Aqua Club provides training for those interested in taking up the sport of sub-aqua diving. Training begins with technical lectures relating to diving as well as practicing “the basics” of snorkeling in the pool. It is important to build up skills and confidence in the pool before venturing out in open water diving. Every fall the Limerick Sub Aqua Club begins looking for new recruits for its scuba-training program. Every year, Limerick Sub-Aqua club hold two open nights, they take place in the University of Limerick sports arena (National 50m pool). See our events calendar for more information.
Be at least 18 years of age
In the swimming pool complete the following:
a) Swim 200 meters free style
b) Swim 50 metres backstroke
c) With head submerged in the water, hold breath for 30 seconds within 5 minutes of (a) and (b) above
Training will only commence on completion of the required Diving Medical.Training consists of a series of lectures and pool and open water snorkel and scuba training. Pool training takes place on Tuesday nights at the University of Limerick sports arena (National 50m pool) from 8.45pm-9.45 pm. This training starts mid-November and continues until mid-March. Open water snorkels will commence in February and Open water scuba activities then begins mid March.
